All 100 entries - from 28 countries - for the Open Fort 400 competition have been received and reviewed as to their technical requirements to take part in the competition.

Each participant will soon receive confirmation that their design will be presented to the jury for review on August 26th and 27th. The jury will nominate 5 entries to participate in the closed part of the Open Fort 400 competition wherein these entrants will be given a budget of E 10.000 in order to further elaborate on their design.

The 5 nominees will be announced on September 13th at the Cooper Union School of Visual Art and Science in New York City by the mayor of Amsterdam, Job Cohen.'

Launch Open Fort 400 ideas competition
Housing Corporation Ymere and the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi) are organizing the second edition of the Ymere NAi Open Ideas Competition, this year entitled Open Fort 400. This edition is an open call for ideas/designs for a building and public domain on the North-West banks of the Amsterdam IJ. Ymere, the NAi and the City of Amsterdam invite architects, designers, landscape architects and other cultural practioners to take part in the competition by registering and sending in their ideas. The deadline for all entries is August 12th 2009.
